I Almost Dropped $700 on a Designer Leather Jacket — Then I Found This
A $700 jacket sat in my cart for two weeks. Here’s why I closed the tab — and what I bought instead.

I had the $700 jacket in my cart for two weeks.
It was the start of winter, my old one had finally given up, and I’d decided this was the year I’d “invest in a proper leather jacket.” You know the logic — buy once, buy well. So I did the rounds: the designer boutiques, the department stores, the endless late-night scrolling.
Two things stopped me cold. First, the price. Seven hundred dollars for something I’d wear, realistically, four months a year. Second — and this is the part that actually annoyed me — half the “premium” jackets at that price weren’t even full leather. Bonded panels. PU coating. The exact thing the buyer’s guides warn you cracks in a season. I was about to pay designer money for a jacket that might not outlast the winter.
Then a mate turned up to dinner in the best leather jacket I’d seen all year. Soft, structured, that proper lambskin look. I assumed it was the $700 one. It was a Decrum. It cost $279.

Same look. Same winter. A $421 difference.
I went home and fell down the rabbit hole. Decrum’s been making real lambskin jackets since 2015 — 50,000+ customers, 4.8 on Trustpilot. Every jacket is genuine lambskin, properly lined so it’s warm in the cold instead of clammy, and cut to fit real bodies rather than mannequins. The reviews kept repeating the thing I’d just watched walk into dinner.
What 50,000+ customers say
★★★★★ 4.8 on Trustpilot“The lambskin feels genuinely soft, smooth and premium — and the fit was spot on.”
“My jacket arrived today — wow, it’s absolutely stunning. So soft, and a perfect fit.”
“Got the distressed trucker — looks great and I’ve had a bunch of compliments. Shipped quick. Would buy again.”
“Very fast delivery and the leather is real lambskin, very good quality — amazing for the price.”
What actually sold me wasn’t the savings, though. It was that I stopped feeling like I was gambling. Free shipping over $99. Thirty-day returns and exchanges — so if the fit was off, I’d just swap it, no drama. The downside had basically vanished.
I went with the Diamond Distressed Brown Biker — a classic cut that works over a tee now and a knit in July. (Brown, if you’re curious; it’s quietly become the colour everyone’s reaching for this winter.) It turned up in days. The grain was real. The lining was warm. And yes — people ask where it’s from constantly. They never guess the price.
That $700 tab is still open in a browser somewhere. I never went back.

If your old jacket has done its time and you’ve been telling yourself winter’s the season to finally sort it out — it is. Just maybe don’t spend $700 to find out.
